Meet Josh Brooks

Hard Work & Straight Talk

for Branford First Selectman

Josh Brooks is a lifelong public servant, small business owner, veteran, and dedicated community leader with deep roots in Branford. For more than three decades, he has built a life defined by hard work, service, and a commitment to bringing people together to get things done.

Josh has proudly served Branford on the Representative Town Meeting since 2007, where he sits on the Education and Ways & Means committees and has been a consistent advocate for transparency, fiscal responsibility, and working families. Beyond Town Hall, Josh has been elected to the Stony Creek Association and has coached over 16 seasons of youth sports, mentoring hundreds of Branford’s young athletes.

“Branford runs on service, community, and common sense—and that’s exactly what I will bring to Town Hall.”

Blue Collar Business Owner

Since 2005, Josh has owned Brooks Stone, a successful Branford stone mason business specializing in granite and coastal construction. He understands what it means to manage a staff, meet a payroll, plan a budget, and deliver results—skills that translate directly to effective municipal leadership. Prior to running his own business, Josh worked for nearly a decade as a Youth Outreach Worker for the Town of Branford, where he founded the Teen Travel program, helped create the Branford Skate Park, and supported countless young people through mentoring and advocacy.

Josh Brooks, wearing a white cap, sunglasses, a gray t-shirt, and shorts, is hitting a large rock with a sledgehammer at a quarry site with rubble and rocks in the background.

"Running a business teaches you accountability—you can’t pass the buck. If something needs doing, you roll up your sleeves and get it done."

Veteran

After 9/11 Josh signed up to serve his country. A U.S. Navy Reserve veteran who served for nine years, he was promoted to Petty Officer First Class and led junior sailors in law enforcement and security operations. His military service strengthened the values of discipline, integrity, and teamwork that guide his approach to public service today.

"On September 11th, I saw our country under attack, and I knew I had to step up. Joining the Navy Reserves was my way of serving something bigger than myself and protecting the freedoms we all share."

Hard Work & Straight Talk

Josh’s campaign for First Selectman is built on the principles that have guided his life: Hard Work & Straight Talk. He believes that good government means listening to everyone, showing up for every corner of town, and following through.

Josh remains an active volunteer in local schools, community events, and civic organizations. Whether it’s building seawalls, coaching a youth basketball game, or casting votes in the RTM chamber, Josh brings the same commitment: roll up your sleeves, work hard, and follow through.

Josh lives in Stony Creek and with his wife, two daughters, and many pets.
