Josh Brooks’ Plan to Crack Down on Speeding and Make Branford’s Roads Safer
Speeding on Branford’s roads is one of the biggest concerns in our community. I hear it every time I’m out knocking on doors or talking with neighbors. Families, seniors, and kids deserve to walk, bike, and drive without fear of reckless drivers.
That’s why I’m sharing my plan to crack down on speeding and make Branford’s roads safer. As a Branford stone mason, small business owner, U.S. Navy veteran, and long-time RTM member, I understand the importance of prioritizing safety and delivering results for our town.
My Plan
Add More Branford Police Department Officers
Strengthen traffic enforcement so we can keep our streets safe.
Target Traffic Enforcement
Assign officers specifically to high-speed corridors so drivers know reckless speeding won’t be tolerated.
Expand Speed-Feedback Signs and Mobile Units
Deploy digital speed displays and portable units to remind drivers to slow down in key areas.
Install Traffic-Calming Infrastructure
Raised crosswalks, curb extensions, and speed tables where speeding is worst to protect pedestrians and cyclists.
Make Intersections Safer
Improve signage, signal timing, and lighting at dangerous intersections to reduce crashes.
Partner with the State
Identify Branford’s most dangerous roads and secure state investment in safety-focused upgrades.
How You Can Help
This is a balanced, common-sense approach to reducing speeding and protecting everyone who uses our roads. However, I can't do this without the community’s input. If you have ideas on how we can improve enforcement or other methods to make our streets safer, I encourage you to contact me. Together, we can make Branford’s roads safer for everyone.
